It’s Hot Hot Hot!

Here we are in the frozen north of England and we have had temperatures in the 28 – 32C range in August! Normally its 24-26C on a good day. For our American friends, 60 years ago the world switched to using Centigrade or Celsius (same thing, Celsius being the inventor of the scale back in 1743 -yes, it’s that old!). Yes, all of science switched to using Celsius when I was a child, and yet our friends across the water still use degrees F ie Fahrenheit. Now I know that Fahrenheit is a more recent scale, but really, it is not exactly sensibly thought out. It’s zero is possibly based on a mixture, but how much of each chemical are in the mixture – yeh, that is weird. Why not a pure compound???

So now only America and a handful of small countries are the only ones using Fahreneit. Join the modern world you guys and use the Celsius scale. Even if the inventor did get it upside down initially, it’s now the right way round.
